Cracking The Elusive Film Distribution Nut

Previous ... Next

The cracking of the film distribution nut remains elusive.

This week I have two films ending their runs on Theatrical-At-Homeand two new films beginning. The filmmakers come in with nerves and hope. They leave with pride, exhaustion, gratitude, and some disappointment.

In the minds of filmmakers, our expectations are never quite met, and we feel like we’ve never done enough.

As I listen to the filmmakers talk, I hear myself in them: Marketing is hard. I wish I could just create. I wish I could have found a bigger partner to help me. How do I market, use social media, leverage the partners I do have?

Leveraging partners is definitely working. But on a smaller scale than most filmmakers would hope. Still… there’s something there that continues to warrant exploration.
