ASHLAND, OR. – The Southern Oregon filmed baseball comedy Calvin Marshall is coming back to the big screen for one night, Monday, March 20 at the Varsity Theatre in Ashland as a fundraiser for Southern Oregon Baseball. Proceeds will be used to fund tournament fees, equipment, gear, and youth scholarships.

Southern Oregon Baseball was founded by local resident, Bill Rowe. Bill grew up playing baseball in the Rogue Valley and then went on to play at the collegiate level at UCSB and OSU. After college, he was drafted and played Minor League Baseball. Bill was on the 2006 Oregon State Baseball National Championship team and was an assistant coach at OSU during their championship run in 2018.

Bill returned to the Rogue Valley to coach the Medford Rogues for a few seasons and is now an assistant coach for the SOU Raiders Softball team.

Bill and his coaching partner Parker Berberet run Southern Oregon Baseball which provides softball and baseball training programs to youth in Jackson County. They have a new training facility with batting cages in Ashland.

Half of all proceeds from sales of the film Calvin Marshall during the month of March, both in person from screenings and online on the Joma Films website will support Southern Oregon Baseball. The film can be streamed online, and merchandise is also available, including a special edition t-shirt. The DVD and Blu-ray of Calvin Marshall include deleted scenes, making of videos, and behind-the-scenes cast and crew interviews.

Funds raised during the month of March will go towards new equipment, gear for the kids, tournament fees and youth scholarships.

The screening on Monday, March 20 will also include a Q&A attended by the Director, Gary Lundgren, Producers, Annie Lundgren and Gary Kout, and Southern Oregon Baseball’s Bill Rowe who was also an actor in the film.

For anyone wishing to provide extra support or show their business logo on screen in the theater, there are still a few sponsorship opportunities available. Sponsorships help cover the costs of the theater rental and screening expenses. For more information, visit jomafilms.com.
